Yesterday at the dentist’s office I luckily caught the final hour of The Oprah Show. I had great timing.
Everyone in the waiting room watched in silence, hanging onto Oprah’s every last word as she delivered a monologue of her life lessons, experiences and wisdom to loyal viewers and most loved fans in farewell to the long-lasting show.
How do you close 25 strong years of programming into one short hour? How did Oprah choose her words and what messages to convey to sum up her dense breadth of experiences and immense amount of wisdom she’s gained over the last two and half decades?
In true Oprah spirit, the note she ended off on was one she chimed all the way through her 25 years—inspirational. Her down-to-earth delivery left us with a sense of empowerment to be the person you aspire to be, take responsibility of your own life and to validate, connect and embrace those around us and do it again and again and again.
Although I couldn’t regular the show day-in and day-out, I was a diligent devotee of Oprah especially in her earlier days, racing home after school during in my high school years to catch her at the 4 o’clock hour. She shed light on topics that were never spoken of and gave hope and faith to millions. She brought people like Dr. Oz to the forefront who continue to share their expertise in helping people better their lives. I should also mention Dr. Oz is a huge proponent of turmeric! 🙂
They don’t call hers ‘The Oprah Effect’ for nothing and her legacy will continue to influence and inspire people worldwide for a very long time.
On the verge of tears herself, Oprah’s message was genuinely beautiful, incredibly touching and she looked absolutely radiant. Of course I cried too as it wasn’t the first time her show brought me to tears!
So that called for a comforting dinner, perfect for the rainy night!

Too bad you didn’t see it! Hopefully you’ll be able to watch the whole episode online. It was inspiring!
I can understand why you would need comfort food on an occasion like that! Wish that we’d been able to see the last episode here in France.
