Spring is about renewal–of our bodies, friendships, personal connections, goals, dreams and of course, life!

Kale & Broccoli in Curried Broth with Paneer

Kale & Broccoli in a Curried Broth – a great way to helping you feel energized, happy and loving!

With the arrival of spring it is time to readjust, wake ourselves out of a slumber and reenergize our spirits and beings.

This is the perfect time to fill our body with all good things, give our butts a bit of a kick before the start of the summer season and give ourselves a mental ‘check in’ if we’re meeting all our life’s undisclosed desires.

Spring is a great time to add some energy-boosting foods to the diet and get the heart-pumping!

When we feel alive and full of energy, then only can we radiate our internal happiness to others, being a good spouse, mother, father, sibling, friend or acquaintance to our loved ones. Some may say putting yourself first is selfish, but indeed it will benefit everyone around you.

Roasted Indian Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Sadly this year I didn’t get the chance to carve my Hallowe’en pumpkin. Just before hurricane Sandy hit a couple of days before Hallowe’en, we were in New York for the weekend. Carrot & Garlic Soup with Turmeric – I made this three times last week!

As we welcome in fall, I find my body takes some time to adjust to cooler temperatures. Naturally, we seek comfort and warmth through food and you may find yourself  adjusting your diet to more warming foods.

I made this Carrot & Garlic Soup with Turmeric three times last week!! Since I enjoyed it so much I wanted to share it with you.

Super easy, this soup gets most of its flavour from garlic. A couple of weeks ago we were at the Niagara Garlic Festival and picked up some delicious Ontario grown garlic which is finding its way into ALL my meals.

For this recipe I used “Music” variety. It’s mild and sweet making it easy to consume a couple of cloves at a time!

A great movie-watching spicy snack, baked Chevdo or Chevda.

I’ve mentioned it before–I almost always prefer music to movies, this is no surprise. In 2011, similar to other years I must have proudly gone to more concerts than movies. You can see my top 2011 concert moments here.

Because of my ‘movies VS music’ attitude, I can sometimes be a little unfair with films (I’m referring to blockbuster Hollywood films), often rating them low on my likeness scale even before the opening credits start rolling.
